As part of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s efforts to enrich Canadian citizenship ceremonies, First Peoples Group partnered with Spruce Creative to craft a concise yet powerful welcome video introducing New Canadians to the histories, voices, and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples. Featuring First Nations, Métis, and Inuit speakers—including multiple Indigenous language greetings—the video acknowledges Canada’s complex colonial past while inviting newcomers to engage in Truth and Reconciliation. More than a history lesson, the video is a call to action—empowering new citizens to help shape a re-Confederated Canada that is stronger, more inclusive, and rooted in shared understanding. Now shown at the start of every citizenship ceremony nationwide, it sets the stage for a more informed and engaged journey into Canadian identity.
